{{Book Review}} Destiny Defied by J.A. Marx

Destiny Defied, book one in J.A. Marx's Destiny series, is the story of Riki. Raised in isolation and educated by a militaristic, cultic underground, she must now build a new life in a world she has only learned about through textbooks. Being pursued by the Lux gives her little hope of survival. But God will set this captive free and bind up her broken heart. Destiny Defied is a thrill ride that will keep you captivated until the last page!

Trapped on a mysterious island, eighteen-year-old Riki finds refuge with four strangers. Isaac, the rugged EMT, insists no one else is around, but Riki cannot ignore her fear that someone is stalking her. Unless she finds a power truly great enough to overthrow Darkness, Riki will choose death over returning to captivity.
Lord VĂ©tis, high priest of a cultic underground, will stop at nothing to reclaim the chosen one, but he must do so before her introduction to the real world ruins her royal destiny. Using black magic, he manipulates Riki and her self-assigned bodyguards, triggering a battle that consumes the entire island.
The underground will never allow Riki to live out her dreams of a normal life . . . something she has never known.

*My Review*
I absolutely LOVE supernatural type boooks! I know I've said this many times before, but I'm going to stay it again. I tend to have a hard time finding books that hold my attention past the 1st page, but that was NOT the case with this book "Destiny Defied" by J.A. Marx.

I loved it from the start and I found myself not able to put it down until the end. I love the potential of the characters that the author has presented and I am excited to read about them and see who they turn out to be in this series.

Even my 11yr old daughter loved this book! I recommend this book to anyone who loved a good read!
